Pollution Awareness Drive
Every year, Diwali is celebrated across India on a large scale. The primary attractions of Diwali are sweets and fire crackers. While sweets taken in large amount can affect an individual, the use of fire crackers in large numbers affects the whole community.
For this reason, we at Community Development Circle decided to create awareness among the students about the use of fire crackers during this festival. The major issues addressed were the Noise pollution & Air pollution and the health hazards they pose.
On October 23, 2011, we arranged for street plays in the central area of the campus. A talented team of students from the Electrical Department came up with innovative story lines and presented the plays before the crowd.
Another initiative taken up by CDC was to create awareness through the college website. On the day of Diwali, the website sported wishes to the visitors and also some catchy slogans about pollution during the festival.
