This Department has been established in 2002 to herald the new bio-technology revolution that began 20 years ago and is here to stay. Bio-technology is the study of the advances in molecular biology for applications in human, animal health, agriculture, environment and specialty bio-chemical manufacturing.
Bio-technology influences every aspect of our lives. In the next decade, as the pace of advances in bio-technology accelerates, the scope and volume of bio-technology’s effects, will be more significant.

The-state-of-the-art laboratories in the areas of cell biology, micro-biology and bio-chemistry are being established in the new premises. The health sciences institutions of the KLE Society are playing a pivotal role to ensure the success of this fledgling department.
